BARITONE

About James Westman

Whether performing song, concert or opera throughout the world, baritone James Westman’s passion and musicianship bring an extra dimension to his performances. Nominated for two Grammy awards and three Canadian Juno awards, Westman has recorded for Decca, Opera Rara, CBC and BBC. Though widely regarded as an ideal exponent of the Verdi baritone roles, he has also been hailed for leading roles.

  • The two protagonists were accompanied by Ontarian James Westman, for whom playing the role of Giorgio Germont is a common affair; he sang it more than a hundred times. In fact, the baritone delivered a solid, flawless performance with a voice of remarkable intensity and depth. His interpretation of the father who seeks to protect his family for better or for worse fully showed the character, both complex and tragic.
